This seems awfully familiar

Does this remind anyone of anything?

I'll leave it to the people who care to go nuclear over or twist themselves in knots to trivialise this scandal, depending on their political affiliation. Instead, I'll ask: what is it about politicians - or their praetorian guards - that make them think that their trivial convenience (making it to a rugby game, having a shower) is more important than the public safety?

And isn't that sort of odious attitude more reminscent of an absolute monarch than a democratically elected leader?
